Our Story

Founded Capital Endocrine & Diabetes

After working for several clinics and labs across the U.S., Dr. Venkatesh Segu set out to start a different medical practice in Austin, TX by prioritizing patient wellbeing through longer, dedicated appointments and personalized treatment plans.

Humble Beginnings for the Practice

Dr. Segu saw his first patient in Austin with a small team of one medical assistant and one receptionist.

APRIL 2015

Added a Specialized Nurse Practitioner

Capital Endocrine & Diabetes was growing, having served 1000 patients since its inception. Adrienne Chagoly, MSN, RN, ACNS-BC, CDE joined our team as a nurse practioner to keep with the growing patient base.

Moved to Cedar Park

Continued popularity among patients and a larger staff meant more office space was needed. CED moved to Medical Pkwy. in Cedar Park, TX to continue serving patients in need.

Expanded Medical Staff

Two new medical assistants joined Capital Endocrine & Diabetes to keep up with patient demand. More practice resources were available to patients to keep up with demand and deliver the medical care they deserve.

Added Dr. Mehta to the Team

Dr. Munira Mehta, DO joined our expert team to help even more patients in the Austin area. Dr. Mehta was an Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine prior to joining.

JUNE 2020

Moved into a Brand New Office

Capital Endocrine & Diabetes has served over 8,500 patients and needed more space to keep up with anticipated growth in Austin. We moved across the street to a new medical facility on Medical Pkwy in Cedar Park, TX. With more space, we are serving even more patients in the Austin area every day.

Added Jenny Posey, MSN, APRN, AGCNS-BC to the Team

Capital Endocrine & Diabetes has served over 10,000 patients and needed to add another provider to meet increasing demand.

Placing patients' well being first is Captial Endocine & Diabetes' guiding principle. I have worked all over the country and witnessed how patients were not given enough time to explain their challenges and understand their medical situation during appointments. At Capital Endocrine & Diabetes we provide new patients an unmatched 45 minute consultation with undivided attention of our doctors. This gives our medical professionals ample time to understand each situation and devise the best medical plan for the patient.

In addition, our practice emphasizes transparency with patients. Transparency and trust are key pillars to healthcare that I found lacking in places I had worked previously. By openly communicating with patients and keeping them aware of viable medical options, we work as an effective team to strategize improving their health.

Above all else, I founded this practice because we need more Endocrinologists. ~10.5% of the US population has diabetes and ~40% of adults are struggling with obesity. Capital Endocrine & Diabetes is dedeciated to help more of such patients in the greater Austin area.
